N's PAINT WORLD

For the 10th edition of the Movable Books Fair / Salon du livre animé (Nov. 23, 2017) , I made a cut & folded / pop-up artist's book, Steps (10 copies, entirely hand-crafted, signed and numbered). Can you guess what the story is? Because, yes, there is one indeed! As a side note, I'll create a clearer site on the near future for all my existing and future artworks. A new paper mobile, on the theme of Space — you know: starts, planets, moons, Tintin rockets and interstellar cruisers...

A paper mobile done in a few hours, for the bedroom. The next one will most likely be about space : stars, planets, comets and all. Gotta find or make the time to. Which is never easy. Oh well.

For my nephew's birthday. I had Star Wars Opening music running while making the video but YouTube censored it automatically. Oh well.

A few pop-up cards, after David A. Carter, I had been working on. I wanted TIME for Christmas but Santa forgot.

Small paper leftovers, put to a better use.

Some bookmarks and gifts for two sibling-friends.

Kirie alphabet and numbers. I quite like the ABC. Still, all of this lacks color!  

That was the most time-consuming of all! By the way, this is A4 size.

More cut-paper pictures. It is not visible here on the scan, but there is plain tracing paper pasted on the verso of each of the works, for a translucid background effect.

A few small kiri-e made from scraps of paper.

  Into kirie (cut-paper pictures) these days. Pencil on plain A4 Canson paper, cut with plain cutter, painted over with plain black acrylic paint. Very straightforward. Why not black paper and why the paint ? It makes the paper stronger after cutting. More to come!

At one moment or the other when using paint, the paint is bound to end up in a different place than where you want it to be — with entertaining or interesting results, sometimes.

Done with the fifty Christmas / New Year cards. Discontent with the rather plain potato-printed cards from last year, I decided to try woodblock printing this year. It went alright. All you need to do is find a piece of wood, carve it (those small sets for children help a lot), get your cards and paint ready, and get on with the printing, without forgetting to wipe the woodblock from time to time. A few pics, in great disorder.

The other day I was remembered that most of my pseudo-nudes had been forcibly removed from Windows Live a couple of years ago — a painted bit of a nipple, breast or sex being labeled as indecent in these censor days. Here are a few of them. Lots of blue, I know.

It's always heart-warming to get hand-made thanks from kids .

Just to let you know that our Photo-Lunchbox was recently reset and redesigned. A visual archive was also added. None of our paintings in there, though !
